More photographs are surfacing showing alleged malpractices and fraud in the recently-concluded PKR elections.

NONE In what certain members are claiming to be evidence of outright bias by the election committee, photographs are already swirling in cyber space of what appears to be an election monitor wearing a button carrying the image of deputy president candidate Azmin Ali.

Forwarded to Malaysiakini by PKR member Muhammad Firdaus Christopher, the former party Federal Territories chief Zaid Ibrahim's aide, said that "disgruntled members" sent him the pictures.

NONE "They were going to the divisions to vote and saw what was happening with their own eyes," he said when contacted later.

He claimed the pictures were from the PKR divisions of Merbok, Kubang Pasu and Bukit Katil, some of which, according to him. showed election monitors filling in the ballot papers on behalf of voters or directing members on the candidates they should cast their ballots for.

NONE Asked why the pictures were sent to him when his link with Zaid -Azmin's biggest rival within the party was common knowledge - he said that complaints to the election committee had proved to be fruitless, to explain the move.

"They feel that no action will be taken by the committee so these members sent them to us. We also told them to go to the election committee but they said they had already done so ," said Firdaus.

He added that this is only the beginning of a series of "evidence" targeted at exposing the electoral fraud to be followed by a statement from the disgruntled members tomorrow.

‘Polls panel already investigating'

When contacted, election committee chairperson Dr Molly Cheah said that the election monitors are not appointed by the committee.

"People always think that the elections monitors are appointed by the committee but they are actually done by the secretariat.

"So if they are appointed by the secretariat, it is not for me to comment," she said.

However, Cheah NONE ( right ) gave an assurance that any complaints that have been officially filed will be looked into.

"We have received these complaints but it will take time for us to investigate. And how does Firdaus know that we didn't take any action? It will take some time," she said.

She added that several election monitors had been removed from their positions after being found guilty of committing irregularities.
