Selangor executive council member Yaakop Sapari has accused Umno of employing a group to jeer him during an official function also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Standing in for Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim during the Peninsular Malaysia Association of Village Chief event at Shah Alam this morning, Yaakop endured a hostile reception from some members from the 1,000 strong crowd present.

Khalid’s speech had touched on Pakatan Rakyat’s policy of equal distribution of allocations for all assemblypersons in Selangor and criticism against the formation of Federal Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKP) in Pakatan Rakyat administered states.

khalid ibrahim speech boo during function with muhyiddin Among others, a few hecklers were heard shouting “Enough!” and “This is not a Pakatan meeting” when Yaakob was delivery Khalid’s speech.

When Muhyiddin spoke later, he dropped further insults by insinuating that Pakatan had done little since taking over the state in 2008 because the state was already developed then.

“Selangor is already developed. It is okay if it is not assisted. If we want to give (allocation) to the menteri besar, we would not know how to.

“The important part is not to give it to the MB but to channel it to the underlings,” said Muhyiddin, triggering an applause from the crowd.

In a statement later, Yaakob hit out at Umno for the rude reception during the function.

“Umno and JKKKP members who were making noise and disturbing (my) speech was both undignified and uncivilised. Their behaviour contradicts with Ketuanan Melayu ,” he said.

Yaakob, who holds the portfolio for agriculture, modernisation, natural resources management and entrepreneur development, said that as organisers of the function, he urged those who were involved in the disruption to apologise for their behaviour.
