The father of Mohd Saiful Bukhari, who is accusing opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him, has appealed to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, to help speed up the court case involving his son.

Azlan Mohd Lazim made the appeal in a letter which he handed to a palace guard at 3pm.

The 57-year-old Azlan, who arrived at Istana Negara with three friends, noted that the trial of Anwar in the Kuala Lumpur High Court had been postponed several times in the last three years.

He told reporters that he had undergone "pressure and difficulty" because of this.

"I hope that the process of justice can be speeded up," Azlan said.

Anwar, 63, is charged with sodomising his former personal assistant, Mohd Saiful, 25, at a condominium in Bukit Damansara on June 26 2008.
