Revelations by the whistle-blower website WikiLeaks pertaining to the activities of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim have nothing to do with investigations conducted by authorities in this country, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

What WikiLeaks revealed were discussions between Singapore and Australia and they did not refer to the Malaysian police, he said.

"I wish to stress that all police investigations and information are kept in strict confidence as the image and credibility of the police are at stake," he said in a statement.

As such, he said, it was most irresponsible for anyone to attempt to link the police or the Home Ministry with the revelations.

Hishammuddin was commenting on Anwar's allegation that the source of the WikiLeaks revelations was the Malaysian special branch.

In Alor Setar, Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar said the police would not want to entertain the PKR advisor's allegation as the police were a professional organisation.

"We know our responsibilities and we do not want to get involved in anything other than police duties," he told reporters after presenting more than RM600,000 to police officers and personnel in Kedah and Perlis affected by the November floods.
