A witness in the trial of a policeman charged with causing the death of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah told the Sessions Court in Shah Alam today he did not expect Corporal Jenain Subi to open fire at the Proton Iswara car which was driven by the teenager.

azlan Constable Mohamad Hafizd Mohd Yusof, 27, said he had instead intended to only go after Aminulrasyid, who was driving in an aggressive manner and was trying to run the patrol car he was driving off the road.

“The Iswara car was going left and right haphazardly when the first shot was fired. It still did not stop even after several shots were fired and was still driven in a haphazard manner,” he said when questioned by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.

Mohamad Hafizd, attached to the patrol car unit of the Shah Alam police contingent, was testifying in the trial of Jenain, who is charged with causing Aminulrasyid’s death at Jalan Tarian 11/2, Section 11 in Shah Alam between 1.10am and 2am last April 26.

Aminulrasyid died on gunshot wounds in the head.

Jenain, 48, is charged under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail of 30 years, and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.

Mohamad Hafizd, who is the 38th prosecution witness, said he also did not expect another patrol policeman, Constable Mohd Izham Mahayadin, to also open fire at the victim’s car during a chase at Bulatan Kayangan.

Asked by Mohd Dusuki whether he fired any shots on that day, Mohamad Hafizd said, “No”.

Request for tracker dog unit

Meanwhile, 36th prosecution witness, ASP Ahmad Fauzi Mohamed Zin, who was the investigating officer during the initial stage of the case, said that besides the forensic unit, he had also requested the tracker dog unit to the scene after being informed that a passenger in the Iswara car had escaped.

However, he said, the tracker dogs could not detect the person.

He also told the court that he was informed forensic officer, Chief Inspector Mazli Jusoh @ Che Kob, who conducted the investigation at the crime scene, that there were 22 shots fired and at least 16 hit the Iswara car.

He said he later sent Aminulrasyid’s body to Forensic Department of the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang for post-mortem.

“When I got back to the office at about 6pm (on the day of the incident), I was informed that the investigation would be taken over by ASP Abd Halim Ismail,” he said to a question by deputy public prosecutor Adilla Ahmad.
