Anwar too hot to handle in Tenang?

Steven For Malaysia: All Malaysians must protest against the double standards practised by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). This has proven they are most unprofessional in carrying out their duties. Who can say now they are not runners for Umnoputras?

May all the rakyat in Tenang not get cheated by the goodies thrown by the Umnoputras during the ‘buy-election'.

Think of the situation they have brought our beloved country to and the present rotten situation: education, corruption, brain drain, poor civil service, lousy road conditions, high toll, high petrol price and high prices of daily necessities, etc.

Amaso: The double standards by the police are pushing fence-sitters and Pakatan Rakyat-doubters to vote for the opposition come the next 13th general election. The rakyat are not blind nor deaf, so let the police continue to do what they want as it is indirectly helping Pakatan to get more votes.

ForJustice: There is no need for Anwar to talk in person or at the rostrum. Use the technology we have now - pre-record the speech and play it at the rallies.

Pemerhati: There are other effective ways that Anwar could use to get his message to Tenang voters. He could, for instance, distribute to each household a CD, DVD or tape recording of what he has to say and at the same time distribute printed copies of his speech or speeches.

He should make it a point to inform the voters of all the dirty tactics being employed by BN to deny them information from the opposition and the propaganda disseminated by BN through its fully-controlled and monopolised media as well as government agencies.

Not Confused: My God, they really are so desperate. To deny free speech to a leader of the opposition in the run-up to a by-election really shows how scared BN/Umno really is. Their actions speak louder than words - even if the words were those of DSAI (Anwar).

It really is quite amusing to see how BN/Umno so blatantly use the police in these situations. Their heads will surely roll in the coming by-election and GE13.

Temenggong: If it is true that 3,000 gathered in Felda Cempelak, then BN is already in trouble. Anwar Ibrahim is still a Malay crowd-puller. PAS better take note.

Gobala lashes out after receiving PKR show-cause letter

Mambo: N Gobalakrishnan is a firebrand, he shouts and screams and yet he has also gone to jail a number of times fighting for the Indians in particular, and PKR in general. Has PKR ever invited him to a closed-door meeting to hear him out in the first place?

Sending him a 45-page show-cause letter shows that communications within the party has broken down. I expected more from PKR.

Malaya Muda: It doesn't mean that just because you go to jail many times during reformasi that you can ask for the moon now. Gobalakrishnan should toe the party line. It's obvious he is ‘sour-graping' for not being picked vice-president.

KSN: PKR wants only meek followers. It is in shambles already and has no clue as to how to handle the situation such as this. If anyone talks out of line and not to the liking of the top leaders, sacking them is seen as the solution.

Gopala has his eccentric ways of going about things, but no one - especially the PKR top leaders - should forget his efforts, sacrifices and contribution to PKR.

I could not care less about what PKR does to him, but he certainly has the right to air his views about anything and everything in PKR. His future in PKR is a foregone conclusion, but for a party calling itself ‘keadilan', its conduct is not justifiable. But of course, they have to show who is the boss.

Kamalappans: Gobala may have his reasons, which seems to be genuine. But I just can't accept his way of getting things done. I've noticed that whenever there is a gathering by Pakatan, he provokes the authority and get himself arrested, maybe for reasons best known to him. Don't be surprised if he carries a coffin to PKR headquarters.

Louisg: Why not send a 400-page show-cause letter? The rest is procedural - just to show that sufficient avenue was given to him. What has Gopala done wrong? Indian problems are real and needs solutions today. If representatives are punished for highlighting this in PKR, let your ‘reformasi' reform PKR first.

Malaysian1st: Gobala may have his points, rightly or wrongly, but the way he did it - shouting and tweeting in public is totally wrong and unacceptable. There are other better and proper ways and means to let the leadership listen to your points. In any organisation, you simply can't do such stupid things. Nobody and no party would allow it.

Be sensible, Gobala. You are an MP and used to be a respected and feared politician. No more. Your way is wrong. Nobody, even MIC or Gerakan, will accept you. That is why you are not prepared to resign and join them.

Custody goes to Muslim convert mother

Anonymous: It is very obvious that Fatimah Fong has conveniently used Islam as an easy way to get custody of her daughter. The fact that she successfully converted her daughter to Islam, without the father's consent, is very disturbing.

Did the cabinet not say that this kind of conversion of young children was not to be allowed? Where is the father's rights in all of this? It is very disturbing to see the ease with which conversions of this nature are allowed.

Where is Fatimah's sincerity? As a Muslim, I feel uneasy about people converting just to exploit the religion for their own selfish purposes. Is there any proof that Fatimah will honour and respect Islam?

Since she used it to get her way, how do we know she will take her conversion seriously? Or will she continue with her old way of life heedless of her new identity?

Helen Ang: The child in question was conceived in a civil marriage where at the time she was born, the mother was not Muslim. This child had lived with her father the past three years before she was snatched by order of the Syariah Court, abetted by the police.

China Press described the brief meeting in court between the father and daughter: "When he squatted down and opened his arms, she flew into his arms." The father was in tears at the reunion.
