An Irish tourist was mauled to death by two mongrel dogs at a privately-owned organic farm in Balik Pulau today.      

Barat Daya district police Supt Mohd Hatta Mohd Zin said in the 10am incident, the 50-year-old man was taking pictures of the farm to be uploaded on his website with a Polish companion when he was attacked by the canines.      

However, the 28-year-old Polish woman escaped injury.     

"The man was attacked by a male and female mongrel belonging to the owner of the farm," he said when contacted by Bernama .     

He said the man had been at the farm since yesterday and had put up at a nearby homestay at the invitation of the farm's owner.   

"The man and his friend were believed to have played with four dogs belonging to the farm owner yesterday. However, this morning two of them turned on him," he said.     

He said the victim, whose ears were bitten off and was injured in the legs, shoulder, chest, left cheek, chin and eyebrows, died at the scene.     

The case had been classified as sudden death.     

The man's body was sent to the Penang Hospital.
