After last week's demonstration against his rule, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim today received another deputation at the state secretariat building, this time expressing support for him.

NONE Over 400 Pakatan supporters marched the 500 metres from Dataran Shah Alam carrying posters, banners and shouting slogans.

They had earlier gathered at the Dataran at around 3pm, where they unfurled banners expressing support for Khalid and loyalty to the Sultan.

In a short session where several Pakatan leaders, including Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad ( above ) who had wrapped himself up in the state flag, exhorted the crowd to support the MB, Pakatan and fight Umno's attempt to dislodge the rightfully elected government of Khalid.

The crowd then began their march at about 3.22pm.

NONE They were made up of PAS, PKR and DAP members who shouted "Hidup Pakatan!", "Daulat Tuanku!","Kami sokong MB Selangor", "Jahanam Umno" and "Hancur BN".

The gathering was apparently a response to last week's protest against Khalid by Gerakan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps), Malay rights NGO Perkasa, Umno and MCA Youth.

The march was organised by Selangor civil servants union Selproa, the MB Supporters' Club and the state Pakatan.

About 60 police officers in riot gear were deployed for crowd control.

NONE The police stopped the crowd about one hundred metres from the state secretariat gates and allowed five of the leaders to pass.

Among them was PKR Youth leader Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.

The leaders handed over a memorandum of support to the MB inside state grounds.

Bouyed by the presence of so many of his supporters, a widely-smiling Khalid then went outside beyond the police line to greet the supporters and was swallowed promptly by the crowd, encased in their rousing cheer.

He also delivered a short speech.

"I am very happy to received the support from the rakyat," said a visibly touched Khalid.

"We are the government given the mandate by the people and it is our responsibility to restore the right of appointing (state executives)," chimed in the MB's office communication director Badrul Amin Bahrom.

Khalid was accompanied in his jaunt by state exco members, among which numbered Teresa Kok, Ean Yong Hian Wah and others.

The crowd then dispersed at about 4pm.
