Former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo has slammed the current state administration for releasing information that could affect his graft trial.

“If they want to seek the truth, they should have made the revelations months ago in order for me to answer them and not now when they know that I cannot reply now. This is an act of cowardice and lack of principles by the state government,” he said on his blog today.

Mohd Khir was commenting on a press statement late yesterday evening by the current menteri besar’s political secretary Faekah Husin, who released a list of seven projects awarded to companies under Shamsuddin Haryoni.

azlan Shamsuddin (left in photo) and Khir (right in photo) were jointly charged with graft on Dec 6 last year. Khir was alleged to have received gratification in form of two plots of land at Section 7, Shah Alam, that were bought at a heavily-discounted price from Shamsuddin.

According to Faekah’s list, the projects awarded during Khir’s tenure totalled RM273 million .

Faekah said the state exco decided to release the information to assist investigations and also to absolve the state government and its civil servants of any links with the deals.

Worry over subjudice

Responding, Khir wrote that he could not respond to these allegations because it may be regarded as subjudice to his case which would be heard in June.

“This is the first time I cannot answer accusations thrown at me because I’m bound by the court case and (I want to) avoid any situation that might compromise my defence,” he said.

However, he said that if the state government is sincere, it would have helped the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission by giving it the list.

“The latest assault by the Selangor menteri besar’s office on me is no more than attempt to portray heroics in front of blind people. This is the all the government that is full of conflict, lies and fraud is capable of,” he said.

Khir said previously expressed confidence that he will be freed of the charge, adding that the land deal was effected on a “willing buyer willing seller” basis.
