Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin urged the people to respect each others religious beliefs although they may practice different religions.

In his message to the Indian community who usher the Thaipusam festival today, Muhyiddin said the sense of belonging and tolerance among the people in a multiracial country can contribute to the stability and harmony of the country.

"I call upon all Malaysians to be sensitive to each others believe and religion, no matter what race or religion they practiced," he said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Muhyiddin also took the opportunity to wish a Happy Thaipusam to the Indian community throughout the country, on behalf of his family.
