DAP state representative for Bandar Klang Teng Chang Khim has been called by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to record a statement in connection with his allegation of corruption against Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

Teng told malaysiakini that he received a call from an ACA officer this morning, requesting him to go to the agency's office in Putrajaya tonight to record a statement.

Request for postponement rejected

"I requested them to do it next week as such a short notice was given, but they can't wait, so I have to go tonight," he said.

In the state legislative assembly sitting o­n Tuesday, Teng ( photo ) spelled out five reasons why Mohd Khir should quit as Selangor menteri besar.

According to Teng, the ACA officer told him that the agency has taken note of his speech which was in the media and wanted to record a statement from him.

In his scathing speech o­n Tuesday, Teng claimed that Mohd Khir was not qualified for the post, citing five reasons, ranging from the latter's immaturity, comment o­n prostitution in the state and his alleged corrupt practices.

The DAP leader said Mohd Khir ( left ) was unsuitable for the job because of the issues of "cronyism, corruption, nepotism and his (Mohd Khir) failure to set an exemplary leadership".

Teng also cited two issues relating to the allotment of land, which he claimed were suspicious.

The first, he said was the allotment of state government land for a project to expand a traditional kampung in Mukim Dengkil for plantation purposes.

According to Teng, in a state exco meeting which approved the land application, five exco members, including Mohd Khir declared their personal interests.

The second was the allotment of land for the expansion of Kampung Labu Lanjut also for the purpose of plantation.

Teng said in the ensuing exco meeting, the MB o­nce again declared his personal interest in the matter.

'Lost credibility'

The opposition politician said since Mohd Khir has lost the credibility and the moral authority to lead the state government, he should resign immediately.

Mohd Khir has also been previously accused of abusing his powers by awarding land and government projects worth over RM100 million to a dubious band of cronies.

On March 27, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Rais Yatim told the Dewan Rakyat during the winding up of the debate o­n the royal address that ACA was still investigating Mohd Khir for alleged corruption.

Rais however, citing the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, said no details of the investigation should be made public until charges are filed in court.

Several reports have been lodged against the menteri besar in the past. Media activist Ahmad Lutfi Othman was the most persistent complainant .

Mohd Khir however has dismissed the allegations as "unfounded", insisting that he has no personal interest in all the projects approved by the state exco.
