Seven men, arrested by the police at yesterday's demonstration in front of the United States embassy to protest against the crackdown of pro-democracy protesters in Egypt, have been released.

Yesterday, Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said the men were arrested when they acted aggressively by throwing bottles, and other hard objects, and refused to disperse after being told to do so.

They were among the almost 3,000 people who took part in the demonstration to hand over a protest memorandum to the embassy.

The demonstration, which began about 2.30pm, was however dispersed about an hour later.
