New Straits Times led with the completion of the first phase ‘Ops Piramid’. One hundred and ninety-nine students are now safely home and it is expected some 700 will return home today, said Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister A Kohilan Pillay.

Star front-paged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak giving a stern warning against any attempt to seize power in Malaysia by using demonstrations like in Egypt.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia focused on the developments in Cairo since the mass rally that took place last Friday at Tahrir Square. It reported that many banks, restaurants and shops started operating yesterday, with the main roads looking busy.

Berita Harian led with 2,000 Malaysian students and workers refusing to return home as they felt it was safe and believe that the crisis in Egypt will be resolved soon. Most of these students who refused to return home are located in safe zones such as Tanta, Damanhur and Mansurah, which are hundreds of kilometres from Cairo and Alexandria.

Sinar Harian front-paged the question of the status of our Malaysian students’ education in Egypt seeing that the students might not be able to resume their studies if the country’s crisis is prolonged.

Chinese newspapers

Oriental Daily front-paged both BN and PR leaders arriving in Sarawak, in a battle to woo the voters.

 

Sin Chew Daily highlighted that taxpayers would get their tax refund within five days if they declare their taxes as early as possible, provided all the details are correct.

Nanyang Siang Pau headlined that British American Tobacco (BAT)  

performed well in the stock market.

 

China Press front-paged that the flood situation has forced 25 schools in Johor to close.

New Straits Times said the Social Security Organisation’s annual report for 2009 showed an increase in the number of occupational accidents by 1,053 to 55,186 compared to 2008.

Berita Harian commented that every issue should not be politicised as done by the opposition parties and some bloggers pertaining to the rescue mission of more than 11,000 Malaysians stranded since last Thursday due to the crisis in Egypt.
