The number of flood victims still at relief centres in Johor has dropped as the situation in Muar, Batu Pahat, Segamat and

improves further.

The state government's portal, www.johordt.gov.my, in its posting at 6am today stated that there were 19,186 people from 4,910 families still at 74 flood relief centres, from 24,523 people this morning.

Muar district recorded the highest number of flood victims, totalling 5,998 people, followed by Batu Pahat (7,906 people), Ledang (4,618) and Segamat (664).

Several roads are still closed to traffic. They are Jalan Pogoh Tekam Seksyen 1-Seksyen 3 (Chodan to Tekam) in Segamat and at Km 48 Jalan Muar-Labis (J32) and at Km 50 Jalan Liang Batu (Gombang)-Sungai Masam.

Other roads, Jalan Pogoh 2 to Tekam Seksyen 10 (Segamat town to Bukit Kepong), Km18 Jalan Durian Chondong-Bukit Kepong (J34) and Simpang Panchor (J137) Pagoh are only passable by heavy vehicles.

The floods in Johor has so far claimed five lives.

In Malacca, 189 people are still at two flood relief centres in Jasin as at 6pm today.

A spokesperson at the state flood operations room said 159 of them were accommodated at the relief centre at SK Parit Penghulu and the remaining at SK Seri Mendapat.
