Umno president Najib Abdul Razak is scheduled to meet leaders of the 191 Umno divisions Saturday to gather feedback and resolve outstanding issues, the party secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said today.

The prime minister would meet the divisional leaders individually at the party headquarters at Menara Tun Hussein Onn, he said, adding that this was part of the political transformation programme (PTP).

"The meeting is part of the political transformation programme. It started with (his meeting) members of parliament (from the BN), then Sarawak state assemblypersons, and now it is Umno divisional leaders.

"The Saturday meeting is to have been followed by another meeting, with state assemblypersons from peninsular Malaysia, on Sunday but the Sunday meeting has been postponed," he told Bernama when contacted.

Tengku Adnan said that after the meeting with Umno divisional leaders, including those from Sabah, a meeting was being planned for all BN state assemblypersons in Sabah and one with all state assemblypersons in the peninsula.

"The dates for the two meetings have not been fixed yet. They will be known after the meeting with all the party divisional chairpersons," he said.

No indication of snap polls

Najib, who is also BN chairperson, had met with BN members of parliament on Jan 8 and with Sarawak BN state assemblypersons last Sunday in Miri.

Both meetings were conducted in small groups.

"This is the first time we have this political transformation (programme). It is a new approach by the prime minister to get the data and try to resolve any issue in a more effective manner.

"Of course, in advance he receives the reports submitted to him. But by holding such meetings, it will give him the opportunity to gather feedback and improve upon or resolve any issue," Tengku Adnan said.

He explained that the scheduled meetings did not in any way indicate that the next general election would be held soon.

These meetings were merely for Najib to carry out his various transformation programmes, he said.

"Many people speculate that it has something to do with the general election but this is not true.

"In terms of the economy, you have the economic transformation programme (ETP). In government, you have the government transformation programme (GTP) while in politics, you have political transformation programme (PTP), he added.
