The cabinet is to meet in Kuantan tomorrow for the first time outside Putrajaya since Najib Razak became prime minister two years ago.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Pahang Foundation building, from 9am to about noon.

Najib, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and the other ministers are also scheduled to visit the Bukit Kenau Integrated Community Development Project in Pekan at 2.30pm.

It is learnt that the cabinet ministers will travel there by bus.

Najib, Muhyiddin and the other ministers will attend a briefing by project coordinator Sh Mohd Puzi Sh Ali and then go on a tour of the project, covering the handicraft centre, participants' houses, a catfish breeding facility, a goat breeding facility, a fertigation agriculture project and the Bukit Kenau homestay centre.

Out-of-Putrajaya cabinet meetings

It is believed that tomorrow’s meeting is the first of such out-of-Putrajaya cabinet meetings in the coming months ahead of general elections.

Meanwhile, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the cabinet meeting outside Putrajaya was an innovative approach of the prime minister to familiarise the cabinet ministers with the leaders and people in the states.

"We are being taken to the Bukit Kenau Integrated Community Development Project for a close look at a project for the people which can be applied in our own areas," she said.

Shahrizat was approached at the presentation of a cheque for RM7.1 million for the "1Azam" IT Community (1Azamkit) project to the Pahang government.
