Felda chairperson Mohamed Isa Abdul Samad today said he was not concerned with critics who questioned his appointment.

Such action would not disturb my focus and objective to develop Felda but instead has further fueled commitment to improve the quality of the Felda settlers, he said.

"When I was appointed, there were those who did not like it. Whatever post that I am appointed, there seem to be some who disapprove.

"But let me continue my mission towards Felda's well-being," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

NONE He was commenting on National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC) member Zainal Aznam Mohd Yusof's (right) claim that Mohamed Isa's appointment to head Felda was a sad episode and the latter's track record of graft had raised alarm bells .

The Umno disciplinary board in 2005 found Mohd Isa guilty of money politics during the party's elections.

Maybank Investment chief executive officer Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said Mohamed Isa's appointment had been unsettling news for the market.

"There have been many GLCs that have ex-politicians appointed as chairpersons, but Felda is a rare case, where the market is concerned with such an appointment.

"It sends the wrong signals," he said yesterday.

Mohamed Isa said individuals who question or raise concern should also take a look at their own background before making statements.

"We must see whether those individuals have a great track record to pass comments on others," he said.
