Selangor BN said the PKR-led Selangor government imposing restrictions on the state secretary's attendance of state executive council meetings might be in contravention of the Selangor constitution.
Selangor Opposition leader Mohamed Satim Diman said in view of the development, all BN assemblymen in Selangor wanted Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim remove any restrictions on State Secretary Mohamad Khusrin Munawi so that he (Mohamad Khusrin) could discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him.
"According to the Selangor constitution, exco meetings cannot be broken up. As such, Abdul Khalid's wish to do this (break up Exco meetings) is unconstitutional, against administrative practices and smacks of divide and rule," he said in a statement today.
The statement was issued following the decision taken by Abdul Khalid, who had prevously opposed Khusrin's appointment, to finally agreeing to allow the highest ranking state civi servant to take his oath of secrecy before the menteri besar next week but would not be allowed to attend certain parts of the exco meetings.
Mohamed Satim said Selangor BN assemblymen were disappointed with the action taken by the menteri besar as it unnecessarily prolonged the polemics on Mohamad Khusrin's appointment as the state secretary.
"The arrogance of the menteri besar to resorting to such an action is a tragedy in the administration of this state (PKR-led) government.
"Selangor assemblymen do not want the state secretary post to continue to be a victim of politics and the arrogant attitude of the menteri besar," he said.
He said Abdul Khalid should accept the consent given to appointment by the sultan of Selangor and allow the state secretary to to do his job without any restrictions.
He said the attitude shown by Abdul Khalid was unbecoming of a menteri besar.
"Why is he (Abdul Khalid) so afraid of the state secretary being present at exco meetings.
"This is pure hypocrisy especially as the Selangor government claims to be a champion of transparency and accountability," he added.
Mohamed Satim said the mentri besar should stop his non-stop politicking because this did not bring any benefit for the people of Selangor who wanted a state government that was more efficient and effective.
