Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan called on people of the various races and creeds in Sabah to preserve their harmonious relationships for the advancement and prosperity of the state.

joseph pairin kitingan 010706 Pairin ( left ), who is also state infrastructure development minister, said that Sabah had long been known for its "unique ties" and tolerance and these must be preserved.

"We are all brothers and sisters so that is why we practise a moderate attitude to benefit and make everyone happy and promote cooperation," he said.

Pairin, who is Parti Bersatu Sabah president, was speaking to reporters after attending a PBS Tawau Division Chinese New Year open house.

According to Pairin, the cordial ties among communities in Sabah have resulted in mixed marriages which strengthened unity in the state.

"We must keep this going for years to come for the good of the country and our future generations," he added.
