Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s appears to be warming up to newly appointed state secretary Mohamad Khusrin Munawi, despite having sour ties just a month ago.

“He is doing very good. In fact, we just had a half hour walkabout together just now,” said Khalid, while smiling, when asked about Khusrin’s first few weeks on the job.

NONE However, Khalid was still coy about when Khusrin will be allowed to take his secrecy oath that will allow him to sit in during state cabinet meetings.

“When the times come, it will be done. But meantime, we are focussing (on the management side) in improving a better productivity, relationship and responsibilities,” he added.

Khusrin, a federal government appointee, has had an uneasy relationship with the Khalid administration during his tenure as the state Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director.

Many of Khusrin’s decisions then had fun afoul with policies set by the state government.

Attempts by Khalid to stymie Khusrin’s appointment, including calling for a special state assembly sitting to amend the state constitution over the position, failed.

Apparently still upset over how his administration was not even consulted over Khusrin’s appointment, Khalid said that the federal government should not interfere in the running of the state government.

“It’s a basic rule management,” said Khalid, who was formerly the group CEO of plantations giant Guthrie.
