The Pahang Barisan Nasional has suggested the names of four Umno members for the consideration of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as the BN candidate for the upcoming by-election for the Kerdau state seat.

Pahang BN chairman Adnan Yaakob, who is also Pahang Umno Liaison Committee chairman, said all the four members were winnable candidates, in keeping with the prime minister’s requirement.

azlan Adnan, who is Pahang menteri besar, spoke to reporters after attending an appreciation dinner of a company in Kuantan last night.

Asked whether the health factor was considered in the selection of the four potential candidates, he said, “We choose candidates preferred by the people”.

“We do not select candidates who may be healthy but are not preferred by the people,” he said.

Adnan also said that the BN would adopt an approach favoured by the people in garnering the support of voters in the by-election.

“The people of Kerdau are matured and cannot be easily swayed,” he said.

The Kerdau seat fell vacant following the death of the assemblyman, Zaharuddin Abu Kasim, 63, of the BN, on Feb 12.

In the general election in 2008, Zaharuddin polled 4,135 votes to beat Hassanuddin Salim of PAS by a 1,615-vote majority.
