Kit P: The prosecution puts up witness Dr Seah Lay Hong as a supposed "expert", but she refuses to answer a direct question when the questioning gets hot. I believe witnesses in court do not have the privilege of refusing to answer questions.

If they do not know the answer, they can say so - that of course has an impact on the witness's credibility. If the question is thought irrelevant to the subject of the trial, their side (the prosecution in this case) can object. Otherwise, a witness has to answer a direct question put to him or her.

A witness is under the law to tell the truth, the operative word being to "tell". So the witness cannot refuse to answer or she is in contempt and faces perjury charges.

The Singh family must press for a contempt charge to be brought against her. For being an Umno stooge, she must be prepared to face the full extent of the law. If you are a ground soldier, you must be prepared to be shot.

Hibiscus: This trial getting more and more ridiculous. Judiciary, police, doctors, forensic chemist - they are all looking like fools of the highest order. Why is this case so important to these people that they are prepared to be ridiculed by the rakyat and international community, and to lose all their human dignity, credibility, reputation and professional integrity to pursue it?

Will the attorney-general be as determined if the accused was not Anwar Ibrahim? Years later, when truth is revealed, they and their families will be having to bear the consequences of the sham of this Sodomy II trial, as were those in Sodomy I.

The pain of guilt on them will intensify as years go by, having been party to this cruelty of bearing false witness to take away years of life of an innocent person. However much these people donate money to charity or do charitable work to make amends later on, the pain of guilt will not go away.

3e68: The judge should direct the witness to answer all questions. Period. It is shameful for a so-called expert witness to refuse to answer questions truthfully. If the person declines to answer questions put to him or her, the presumption is that some material evidence is being hidden, or there is an attempt not to disclose evidence to the benefit of the accused. In either event, it is shameful.

WangMalaysia: Umno/BN's guidelines are more con-prehensive, hence they should be adhered to at all times.

Pemerhati: So far, compared with the other professionals, like the doctor who refused to look at his notes when asked to do so by the defence, Dr Seah has been frank and open and has shown all the details of her work to the defence.

If she is unable to answer some questions on the work she has done, it could be because she is not sure as to how she should respond, or has overlooked a particular detail and is reluctant to admit her oversight. Although that is a natural human reaction, it is not very professional.

The testimony so far is not damaging to Anwar as the evidence does not say that Anwar's semen were found in Saiful's anus. What the evidence so far suggests is that Saiful has had homosexual relations with multiple sex partners.

Bluemountains:

No stains were found on the back portion of Saiful's underwear because his anus was corked after the semen was poured in, using a funnel. Do you recall that he told the doctor at Pusrawi Hospital that a plastic object was shafted into his anus?
