People rushed out of the six blocks of seven-storey office buildings in the Damansara Town Centre here this afternoon after mild tremors were reportedly felt in two of them.

The tremors were reportedly felt on the six floor of blocks A and E at about 12.45pm, said Kuala Lumpur Fire & Rescue Department assistant director of operations Azizan Ismail.

"When we arrived at the location, people in the two buildings and the other blocks had begun to gather in an open area nearby. It was claimed that tremors were felt on the sixth floor of blocks A and E," he told Bernama when contacted.

Azizan said firemen conducted checks on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the two buildings but did not detect any damage.

The occupants were allowed back into the buildings about an hour later after the safety inspection had been completed, he added.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Meteorological Department said an inspection conducted in the area did not indicate any sign of tremors.

"Within a period of two hours after the reported tremors, we conducted an inspection but did not detect any sign of tremors," he said, adding that jolts triggered by construction work nearby could not be ruled out.
