The Telok Datok magistrate’s court today ordered the case of former lawyer N Pathmanabhan and three farm workers charged with the murder of Sosilawati Lawiya and three others tranferred to the high court.

Magistrate Hurman Hussain fixed the case after allowing the application by deputy public prosecutor Ishak Mohd Yusof.

Hurman fixed the case for mention on March 24 in Shah Alam High Court. Ishak also produced a letter for transfer of the case.

NONE The prosecution was also represented by deputy public prosecutors Saiful Edris Zainuddin and Idham Abd Ghani.

Counsel Amer Hamzah Arshad, Puspha Ratnam and Ng See Teong represented all the accused.

   

Pathmanabhan, 41 ( left ), T Thilaiyagan, 19, R Matan, 20, and R Khatavarayan, 30, are charged with the murder of Sosilawati, 47, bank officer Noorhisham Mohammad, 38, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, and driver Kamaruddin Shamsuddin, 44, at Lot No 2001 Jalan Tanjung Layang, Tanjung Sepat on Aug 30 last year.

They are charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carry the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Farm workers K Sarawanan, 20, and U Suresh, 27, were sentenced 20 years’ jail each by the Shah Alam High Court on Feb 21 for disposing of the remains of the cosmetics entrepreneur and three others.

Judge Mohtaruddin Baki said the offence committed by Sarawanan and Suresh is very serious and thus amended the seven years’ jail sentence passed by the Telok Datok magistrate’s court on Oct 15 last year.
