EC hazy over Najib's 'you help me, I help you'

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: "Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said that it was difficult to define election bribery."

What's so difficult about it? "Election bribery" is any material promises for development made by the opposition prior to elections. Goodies handed out by BN, no matter how big or material, during elections are merely "election promises".

To echo the words of the ex-MB of Selangor, "Willing buyer, willing seller". I willingly buy you goodies at the taxpayers' expense and you willingly sell me your votes. So what's wrong with that? Don't believe me, then ask the attorney-general and the courts.

Itstoffeesturn: He is supposed to be independent, he is supposed to know the law concerning elections at the tip of his fingers. He should not be intimidated by anyone and yet he decides that it is safe for him to say he does not know.

Sack the idiots, they can't chair the Election Commission (EC).

It is sad to see the transformation of Malaysia since independent from bad to worse in terms of corruption. Corruption is becoming a norm by the day. In the past, corruption has to be done secretly, but now it is done quite openly.

If people with the power to stop such act, chose not to do anything, we the public is powerless and we can just observe and cry.

Ferdtan: EC chairman Abdul Aziz, you are just another ' gaji buta ' civil servant. Stop wasting taxpayers' money when you cannot do a proper job.

Bozo: Abdul Aziz is just not fit to be the EC chairperson. If he is not expert in the election laws then he shouldn't sit on that chair. Honestly he is just a lapdog of Umno and he has no pride in his job.

Everything BN does is okay, but when comes to the opposition, nay, nay. Search your conscience, Aziz.

Atan-Toyol: Of course, it is hard to prove anything, Tan Sri, but don't you think it's your job to prove it, to show fairness to the taxpayers, since you are paid by the taxpayers, not the BN.

But you are not interested to prove anything, since your boss is the PM and BN chief. You cannot go against your boss, can you? Nobody can.

Your EC is far from independent. That is being proven by what happens to all the past petitions of the opposition. You chose to turn a blind eye and deaf ears to the valid complaints of the opposition.

Chuath: It appears that all these government servants are not clear who pay their salaries. It is not Umno, it is the taxpayers. They don't have to be loyal to Umno. They have to be loyal to the country and rebel against values, systems and actions that would hurt the country in the end.

We must all try our best to stand up for truth especially since we claim to be a God-fearing country.

Lim Chong Leong: The EC chief admits he is no expert in election laws? Why is he the EC chief then? It is like I am a heart surgeon but not an expert on heart anatomy.

And if he is not so sure of the law, then why did the EC reject Zaid Ibrahim's petition summarily without investigating, on the ground that it is hard to prove? The correct step would be that they should investigate first before realising that there is no evidence and not brush it aside because it is going to be difficult.

Here we have video evidence of the speech, so what is so difficult? Is Najib going to say "it looks like me, sounds like me but I am not 100 percent sure it is me". Even if he was going to use this excuse, there should have been an investigation first. Here, everything is pre-empted because it is going to be difficult to prove.

We don't avoid doing things just because they are difficult and we do things because it is the right thing to do.

Anonymous_3f94: If the EC chairperson can claim that he is not an expert on election laws, then it is only appropriate that he steps down and someone else with the necessary acumen take his position, as it is only appropriate that an expert be picked as EC chairperson.

He has already admitted that he does not have the necessary skills to do his job. So why should taxpayers foot his bill?

Alan Goh: EC hazy on ‘you help me and I help you’? Who are you trying to fool, Abdul Aziz. Let the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government try something like this and the immediate response will be different.

What Umno/BN does is hazy but what Pakatan does is closely scrutinised. The same goes for MACC. That is also why change we must, to bring real democracy to the country, the doctrine of separation of power between the executive, judiciary and legislature.

Black Mamba: Would the EC chairperson dare make a stand when his position can be dismissed by the PM similar to the " you tak tolong saya, saya pun tak akan tolong you ".
