AIM intensifies campaign to secure freedom for ISA 6
The Anti-ISA Movement (AIM) is working up support for the release of reformasi activists by organising a series of activities until June 1, when four of the detention orders will expire. The other two will expire on June 13.
The launch was marked by a press conference
demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Saari Sungib, Tian Chua, Hishamuddin Rais, Lokman Noor Adam, Dr Badrulamin Bahron and Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor.
They were detained in 2001 under the Internal Security Act for allegedly plotting to topple the government through militant means.
All six have denied the charge. Since last August, however, Mohd Ezam has been serving a two-year jail term in Kajang Prison for violating the Official Secrets Act 1972.
