The Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TAR), which has been in operation since 40 years ago, is eligible to be upgraded as a university to enable the institution to offer degree courses, MCA vice-president Chor Chee Heung.

Chor, who is Housing and Local Government Minister, said graduates from the college, especially its accounts graduates, had proven able to meet the industrial requirement, not only locally, but they were also accepted and recognised abroad.

He told this to reporters after the presentation of the ACCA Platinum Status award to TAR College here today.

The ACCA award was presented to TAR College principal Dr Tan Chik Heok by the Asia Pacific director of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), May Law.

Chor said the college should be given a chance because its workforce had the quality and qualification to offer courses up to degree level.

TAR College now has five branch campuses, each in Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah. The college has so far produce more than 140,000 graduates in various fields.
