Will the identity of 'Male Y' which the prosecution has been alluding up to this point in the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy II trial be finally revealed tomorrow?

NONE Solicitor-general II Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden (right) had said before the end of today's proceedings that the prosecution will be revealing how a collection of exhibits was made, subject to objections raised by the defence.

Yusof indicated in court they will be calling at least three witnesses for this purpose.

Although the solicitor-general II did not reveal what the exhibits were, it is learnt they are the white toothbrush, 'Good Morning' towel and mineral water bottle which were sent to the chemist by the police on July 17, 2008.

On Wednesday, chemist Nor Aidora Saedon had testified that the samples which she retrieved from swabbing the towel (which was divided into four areas), the handle and bristles of the toothbrush and the mineral water bottle where she swabbed at the mouth, cap and the bottle.

The witness testified that the DNA tests she conducted confirmed to resemble the DNA of ‘Male Y’.

NONE Earlier evidence by the Hospital Kuala Lumpur doctors and another chemist, Dr Seah Lay Hong ( left ), revealed that 'Male Y's' semen was found in complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's lower rectal area .

When Nor Aidora testified on Wednesday, defence counsel Sankara Nair objected because the items she received on July 17, 2008 from investigating officer DSP Jude Blacious Pereira, had not yet been tendered.

Proceedings had to be halted until the arrival of lead counsel Karpal Singh on the issue.

While Nor Aidora was allowed to continue with the testimony, the objection as to how those items were tendered still loomed.

azlan When met after today's trial, Sankara pointed to the possibility of objecting to the tendering of exhibits.

"We will have to wait and see, but it would be premature for us to comment on it. Probably there will be submissions made on this by Karpal," he said.

Asked on the possibility of a trial within a trial, Sankara indicated there was a high possibility.

A trial within trial is where witnesses can be called in to verify the veracity of the evidence. It is conducted when the judge will decide on the admissibility of an item of evidence.

Earlier, Sankara informed the court that the CCTV footage supplied to the defence team had some discrepancies and the judge will decide on the issue later.

 Maintainence and cleanliness

Desa Damansara condominium, resident manager, Mohd Aris Ahmad, testified his job was to maintain the CCTV, residences and cleanliness of the condominium.

"We have CCTV and security guards posted at the condo. To gain entry, the owner will inform us. If a guest comes, we will inform the owner and register the name of the person. To gain entry to the car park and lifts, an access card is required," the witness said.

The witness said the CCTV is supplied by Golden Perfect Tower Sdn Bhd and the company maintains the equipment.

Another witness, Tan Tong Yean of Golden Perfect Tower Sdn Bhd, testified the company supplied and installed the CCTV at the Desa Damansara condo.

It was installed sometime in August 2007. The equipment consisted of cameras, a CPU and motherboard.

Tan admitted to questions from DPP Mohd Hanafiah Zakaria that the time stamp on the CCTV recording was not synchronised.

The witness also agreed he was called in to the Desa Damansara condominium on June 30, 2008 by Mohd Aris.

"Several police officers were there including investigating officer DSP Jude Blacious Pereira."

Cross-examined by Sankara, Tan said the CCTV was in good working condition on June 26, 2008 but he did not have any records to prove it.
