The BN late this afternoon handed out boxes of foodstuff to residents of Kerdau's only Chinese village, on the pretext of giving out aid.

Ferrying the boxes in a truck, the individuals in red Wanita Umno shirts were seen going house to house to identify the voters.

NONE An elderly resident in the area, who declined to be named, said the people went around telling them that the "food aid" would be given freely, on condition that a BN sticker is placed clearly on or next to their front door.

"We were asked to vote for BN, and were told that those who support the opposition will not get the aid," he said.

The box, bearing a sticker with the faces of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Sharizat Abdul Jalil, contained rice, Milo, cookies, powdered milk and cans of sardine, among other things.

The box also had Akhirkan Zaman Miskin (End Your Poverty) plastered on its sides.

A man wearing a BN shirt, who was helping to distribute the boxes, said it was merely "a form of assistance".
