Twenty-six new Perodua Myvi and Viva cars kept in the company's warehouse in Puchong Jaya were destroyed in a fire today.

Serdang police deputy chief DSP Lam Chien Fei said another 20 cars were, however, saved, but four more were damaged in the 1pm incident.

"In the warehouse were 50 Myvi and Viva cars waiting to be distributed to buyers," he told reporters in Serdang.

Lam said there was no reported loss of life in the fire, which was believed to have started in the central part of the warehouse before spreading to the other parts.

Puchong Fire and Rescue station chief Pramnath Hariskisna said four fire-engines, one each from Puchong, Subang Jaya, Bukit Jalil and Petaling Jaya, with a total of 50 firemen, put out the fire in 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
