A former aide to PKR de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim said he is here to make sure Kerdau voters don’t buy into the opposition leader’s lies.

Rahimi Osman, who was at the centre of two statutory declarations related to Anwar’s on-going sodomy trial, said it is his duty to dispel whatever allegations that the former deputy premier as he personally knows the latter’s true character.

"Whenever he goes down to the kampung, he will just spin and spin his stories... the danger is that people would actually believe him,” Rahimi said when met at the BN command centre here yesterday.

NONE Rahimi, who admits to being a local boy from Temerloh, said he knows full well Anwar’s misdeeds and ambitions, and that of Pakatan Rakyat, stressing that this is the reason why he chose to reject the opposition.

He said based on his experience working for Anwar, he knows that Pakatan would always rely on Anwar as their “lifeline” in any polls campaign.

“And because we know this, everyone who has pledged to fight against Anwar will do what we can to stop him,” he declared.

Rahimi was the focal point of a controversy surrounding two SDs, which he claimed he was forced to sign to link Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor to Anwar’s second sodomy trial.

Latheefa Koya, who was PKR information chief at the time, denied Rahimi’s claim, saying that the former Anwar aide had made a police report in 2008 confirming that he did indeed know that Anwar’s accuser, Saiful Bukhari Azlan had met both Najib and Rosmah.

'I have proof of Anwar’s Jewish links'

Rahimi, who starts campaigning for BN’s Kerdau candidate Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad today, said he will release proof of Anwar’s links to Jewish organisations and Israel at the right time.

“I have proof that some of the international organisations supporting Anwar lean towards the Jews, but I will first wait and see whether or not Anwar will admit to this.

"If he doesn't, then I will release my proof, but I won’t do it all at once.

"Just like the (VK) Lingam tape, I will release it over a period of time," Rahimi said, referring to the infamous Lingam video which allegedly showed the prominent lawyer cutting a deal on judicial appointments.

Rahimi, now an Umno member, also denied opposition claims that he was bought over by Umno when claiming he signed the SDs under duress.

He said his decision to defect was purely based on his knowledge of Anwar’s misdeeds.

“Why would they (Umno) want to buy me over, when there are so many others they could buy,” he said.

Anwar made his first foray into the Kerdau by-election last night, with a string of ceramah venues on his schedule including at the all-important Felda areas.
