Taib vows 'all-out battle' against opposition

Kaisim: PBB is Umno in Sarawak. For years, Umno has been deceiving the poor rakyat in Semenanjung with their sweet talk in the villages. Sarawakians will face the same fate if they continue to believe what the ‘white Rajah' said in his well-crafted speech at the state BN convention yesterday.

In the name of progress, Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud travels in a Rolls Royce. What about you? Is your life better, the same or worse? Look at the wealth the politicians have acquired and compare that with what you have got. The natives are crying foul due to the vast anomaly.

With strong Umno connections everywhere, the opposition can't do much, but we must be careful with BN because Umno ‘cakap tidak serupa bikin'.

Lim Chong Leong: What development has BN brought to Sarawak that can be considered impressive, CM Taib?

Sarawak is the richest state in terms of natural resources, yet it is poorest in terms of development. That is because of your plundering alone and nothing else. So don't act as if you are anything special and that Sarawakians are all ‘bodoh'. The time has come for Sarawakians to rise and reclaim what is theirs, and demand Taib to repay all that he has plundered.

BN leaders have now taken the cue from PM Najib Razak to threaten the rakyat with violence, starting with Najib's ‘spilled blood and crushed bodies to defend Putrajaya', now we have Taib's ‘all out' battle-cry.

It is EC's inaction against these threats and those like Malacca Chief Minister Ali Rustam's ‘no development' warning that encourages and emboldens BN to hold the voters to ransom.

Dood: The way Taib talks, one could be forgiven to be thinking that he is a sultan out to defend his empire at all costs.

Adcin: Someone should point out that no one, including Taib and PM Najib Razak have ever denied the claims about his vast wealth stashed overseas made through the raping of Sarawak of its wealth and resources.

All Taib can say is that he has brought development to the state to refute his opponents. In another country, Taib will be a liability but in Malaysia he is a champion! What is wrong with us when Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is seen as the bigger problem for the country.

Where really lies our priorities? Is this for ‘Ketuanan Melayu'?

Cala: As the West practices democracy, their leaders subscribe to good governance principles, and hence they align their interests with that of the people. Their reputation is not put on line even if they leave this world. The reverse is true in the East.

For example, see how people judge Mao Zedong after his death? I am afraid the same applies to Taib and the Umno-led BN politicians. Otherwise, why do they need ISA, OSA, and the Printing Act, etc?

Second, what are the measures of progress? Is GDP per capita income the only yardstick?

What about other equally important measures, such as: i) Gini coefficients that indicate the disparity of income of the poor and the rich; ii) social capital; iii) the trend of the poorest 20% over 10 years say, compare with the richest 20%; and iv) the human rights index?

Multi Racial: Taib can say what he likes. Thirty years is way too long for any politician to be in power. The same goes to BN. Time for change.

Louis: He is the only CM to use a Rolls Royce. The state is the poorest and yet he enjoys the very best. He must be going around telling the poor Sarawakians that he has the heart for them, but sucks them dry behind their backs.

MACC, we are still waiting for you to jump into action. Or is Sarawak out of MACC's jurisdiction?

Malaysian for Malaysia: Taib's actions of not using official government-sanctioned Perdana and using what is quite exclusively a prerogative of the Agong (and other sultans) should be seen as treason and an insult to the king.

Tuanku should take action against such actions by one who seems to fancy himself the King of Sarawak in ways of sorts. ‘Derhaka' would be right word for Taib Mahmud right now.

Ghkok: Taib sounds exactly like Muammar Gaddafi making his last stand. Perhaps his Syrian wife should tell him about the revolution in the Middle East.

About the "income per capita of Sarawakians" increasing by five times, he should be reminded that the income of himself, his family and his cronies have risen by a million times, and the income of the average Sarawakian hardly at all, and so if you lump together the entire figure and divide by the number of Sarawakians, then of course you get "income per capita increasing by five times".

The important thing to remember is that this ‘battle' is not about Taib. Taib is just a symbol of the decadence, opulence, wastage, corruption, oppression and filth of the regime. The objective is to defeat the entire regime, including the forces at the federal level that is supporting the regime, not just Taib.

Black Mamba: All his fat talk about reality and perception is, in reality he never thought the people believes he has rob Sarawak to the core, and his perception is Pakatan Rakyat will never take over Sarawak - not now and ever will.

Ponto: Regrettably, the politics practiced by this omnipotent and obnoxious Taib and his cohorts could well be said and seen as one that is riddled not merely by the bullet holes of justice from an oppressed and exploited nation, but totally riddled with the decaying and unbearable stench of overwhelming corruption and blatant abuse of power in open defiance, and at the full expense, of its people.

Clearly, the audacity and arrogance of this tyrannical autocrat has been laid bared by his incessant outbursts of threats of punishments for any non-delivery from a cowed populace who has neither the will nor the ability to stand up to his oppressive intimidations and perpetual bullying.

With state elections on the horizon, the onus is on all patriotic and progress-deserving Sarawakians to take stock of their dispositions to courageously stand up to the overbearing Taib and acknowledge the multitudinous exploitations perpetrated by him and gang to say enough is enough and vote them all out.

MySecret: Crushed bodies, all-out battle, etc... sounds like politicians with nothing left to say except thumping their own chest exhibiting natural simian-like flight reactions to fear.
