Second planning and resource management minister Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim should not talk big about wanting to take over Sarawak in the coming state election.

Saying that Anwar had lost his credibility as a leader, Awang Tengah said his "infamous Sept 16, 2008 dream" of taking over Putrajaya had also failed.

"So he should not talk big now," he said before handing over land compensation totalling RM3.1 million to over 200 landowners in Tanjung Manis, near Sarikei today.

Awang Tengah said PKR itself was suffering from exodus of elected representatives.

In addition, many founding and ordinary members were also leaving the party, Awang Tengah said.

He cautioned the people to be on their guard over attempts to get them to join Peninsula-based opposition parties like the PKR, PAS or DAP.

"They will come to manipulate you to serve their interests. In the course of doing what they will do, they will create ill-feeling among the different races, they will instigate you against each other, against the government and in the end you and the state will be the losers," he said.

On the other hands, the BN style of leadership was different, he said.

"It has right from the start focused on bringing development, progress, prosperity, unity and political stability.

"It is focused on eradicating rural poverty as well. It may have its weaknesses but it is in the process of rectifying them through initiatives like the Government Transformation Programme, Economic Transformation Programme, New Economic Model, National Key Result Areas and others," he said.
