Komtar assemblyman Ng Wei Aik today asked the police to investigate the reported attempt of vice-president of the Komtar Merchants Association Mohamed Ghani Abdul Jiman to send a coffin to his house at Happy Valley near Paya Terubong.

"The action should be condemned because it threatened social harmony in Penang," he told reporters in George Town.     

Mohamed Ghani was reported to have tried to send the coffin to Ng's house but was stopped by police.     

Ng, who is the political secretary of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, said that Mohamed Ghani might have been influenced by the action of the Penang Development Corporation to direct traders to vacate the third floor of Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak for upgrading work to be carried out.

As for the allegation of Mohamed Ghani ( left, with plastic tag ) that he would not get back his business site after the upgrading, Ng said that only the corporation had the authority to decide on the matter.

Earlier, Mohamed Ghani told reporters that he was giving Lim one month to solve problems related to what he alleged was the marginalising of Malays and Muslims in the state.      

If the chief minister failed to do so, Mohamed Ghani said, he would send a coffin to him.
