PKR Youth, also known by its Malay acronym AMK, distributed 2,000 flyers and copies of the Buku Jingga (Orange Book) at the Masjid Jamek LRT station in Kuala Lumpur late this evening.

NONE Federal Territories AMK secretary Syed Hamzah Syed Zainal Abinden said today’s event was to bring awareness and a clearer picture for the people regarding the 100-day programme of Pakatan Rakyat if they were to take over Putrajaya.

“We are conveying information about the 100-day programme through these flyers and we hope that the rakyat will respond to it, and see what changes the Pakatan is willing to bring for the rakyat,” he told Malaysiakini when met outside the LRT station.

The flyers and the Buku Jingga were distributed by eight AMK members, and all the copies were distributed within half an hour.

Syed Hamzah said that he was pleased with today’s outcome as many people responded positively towards the flyers and the Buku Jingga .

“I am also grateful to the police as they did not try to stop us from distributing the flyers and the Buku Jingga . They were extremely pleasant today despite knowing what we were doing,” he added.

NONE Malaysiakini observed that there was a police truck and an unusual number of FRU and police personnel lingering around the Masjid Jamek LRT station compound.

On another related matter, Syed Hamzah also said that the AMK has already met with the Youth wings of both the DAP and PAS, to organise another similar event sometime soon.

“We are not sure of the date yet (to distribute the flyers and Buku Jingga together), as everyone’s schedule is different but it will be soon.

“By doing this, the rakyat will know what we stand for,” he said, adding that today’s event was not a popularity stunt since the Sarawak state elections may be just around the corner.
