MACC man: Teoh a likely accomplice

HYL: Even if Teoh Beng Hock was an accomplice, the fact is he walked into the MACC office alive and died in MACC's custody. Even if one is charged with murder, MACC must ensure that the suspect is alive when they are done with him.

MACC must not be allowed to go free and not held to account, simple as that. If the RCI (Royal Commission of Inquiry) cannot see this, there is no reason to carry on with it.

David Yee 154a: Bar Council lawyer Cheow Wee asked on the interview techniques taught and MACC Selangor investigations unit head Hairul Ilham Hamzah answered that they use methods to evoke "emotions of sadness or guilt".

"We are trained to use psychological tactics when interrogating suspects," he explained.

So will they conclude that Teoh killed himself out of guilt over a couple of thousand ringgit? He is so guilty that he decided to ditch his wife-to-be and son-to-be? If that's the case, is MACC guilty of psychological homicide? Who are you talking to, toddlers?

Tkc: I don't understand why the Bar Council lawyer is putting the word "accomplice" into the mouth of this MACC investigator. Whether Teoh was a witness, accomplice or suspect, MACC had no reasons to interrogate him until the wee hours of the morning, with the unfortunate conclusion that he is now dead. These MACC officers have blood on their hands.

HNL: The amount of money involved, and for which the late Teoh Beng Hock was grilled for hours by the MACC as a possible witness, was less than RM3,000.

What about the reports lodged with the MACC and the police on the alleged hundreds of millions of ringgit worth of properties owned by Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud and his family. Why is it that until today Taib has not even been interviewed by MACC?

The RCI on Teoh Beng Hock should ask the witnesses from MACC as to why it has gone all out against Teoh's boss on such a minor case. This may well go to show possible motives on MACC's part when they acted against Teoh and his boss.

Mingxiang: Please don't tell me this case was not a politically motivated. It's clear as daylight to everybody it was. Come on, we are talking about RM2,400 or thereabouts here, and the 'witness' is grilled till the early hours of the morning?

Using a sledge hammer to kill a fly, don't you think? How about the Scorpene submarines deal where the 'commission' was a hefty half billion ringgit? No corruption there?

Changeagent: I wouldn't be so quick to heap praise on the RCI for the simple fact that to date, they have failed to consider any clues from a mysterious note purportedly from some MACC officers.

If you recall the note's contents, it specifically mentioned a certain deputy director who did not provide his samples in the meeting room at MACC's office with the rest of the officers. On the contrary, he had given his DNA profile in his room under highly suspicious circumstances.

In addition, it was alleged that the deputy director had a tendency to hold the witness by the belt as part of his interrogation method. To top it all off, he did not punch out when he left his office on July 16, according to MACC's punch-card records.

The very fact that none of these details have been brought up so far suggests that the RCI are looking to let the big fish off the hook to chase after the minions like Hairul and Ashraf.

Ankswak: Instead of wasting time and taxpayers' money, it's better for the RCI panel to force those MACC officers to submit to a lie detector test. Then we will know who is telling the truth and who is not.

DAP wallops Nazri for overseas M'sians comment

Dr Suresh Kumar: I am a true blue Malaysian citizen, but a domicile of another country now. I love Malaysia from the bottom of my heart as I missed various aspects of life in Malaysia. I make it a point to visit Malaysia every year, sometimes twice in a year.

It's true, I made the choice to leave of my own volition. Re-locating is not simple, it demands a lot of time, planning, money and mental strength. But that choice was not because I no longer love Malaysia. I 'had' to leave because of the hate I had for you, Umno.

I hated the way you kept humiliating us. I hated the way Umno ministers display their arrogance. I hated the way you treat our brilliant students by their skin colour. I hated your Islamisation of the national schools and government departments. I hated to see the racial cards being played on and on again.

I hated you for taking my taxes which I contributed religiously but refused to help the Indian poor, who are the new underclass of society. I hated seeing you insult the intelligence of my Malay friends.

I hated your corrupt system. I hated seeing unqualified men and women put in charge of educational institutes and other departments. I hated to see the high-handedness of your agents, especially the police in handling peaceful rakyat. Well, I can go on and on till kingdom come.

Finally I am proud to say, I contributed in my own way in the 12th GE to see the demise of Umno. And I will continue to do so until the day this arrogant, insensitive, heartless, inhumane Umno gets wiped out from my beloved Malaysia, so that the Malaysian poor and others can live life in dignity.

I had to endure so much of sacrifices, not for me but for a better future my two little children. I never regretted that decision. And the happiest person is my wife, who had to give up her permanent residency some 10 years ago because I refused to leave Malaysia then. I am lucky to get it again after 10 years on reapplying. So, Nazri, speak for yourself.

Loyal Malaysian: It is obvious why the Umnoputras will want to disenfranchise overseas Malaysians. Being not subjected to the propaganda dished out by the Umnoputras media machinery, these rakyat shall be very critical indeed of the Umnoputras.

Clearwater: Does Nazri's ill-considered comment imply all the hordes of migrant workers from Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Burma, Vietnam, etc, do not love their own countries?

In contrast to Nazri, the former Philippines president has called her countrywomen working in foreign countries "heroines" for their remittances back home. Are Malaysians abroad so very different from their Southeast Asian neighbours? Or is it just the sick mentality of certain politicians that is in question?
