The United Sabah Bajau Organisation has received the greenlight to join the Barisan Nasional (BN) as an affiliate member.
The United Sabah Bajau Organisation has received the greenlight to join the Barisan Nasional (BN) as an affiliate member.
Speaking to reporters after Usbo's 21st annual general meeting in Kota Kinabalu today, its president Salleh Said Keruak said delegates attending the meeting had approved the move.
Salleh had suggested that Usbo join the BN as an affiliate member in November last year after the BN's supreme council paved the way for direct membership into the coalition to individuals and organisations.
He added that Usbo's constitution would be amended accordingly (to seek BN affiliation).
With the development, Usbo will become the first non-governmental organisation to be affiliated with the BN.
The meeting attended by Usbo's 20 branches from throughout Sabah also returned Salleh, who is also Sabah state assembly speaker, as president together with three deputy presidents, Pandikar Amin Mulia, Amir Kahar Mustapha and Haji Sinteh.
