Sabah police have arrested a total of 3,929 illegal immigrants under the fourth phase of 'Ops Nyah II Bersepadu', an operation to clean Sabah of aliens as well as to rid the state of squatter houses occupied by them.

The operation was launched on May 29, covering 20 districts in Sabah and Labuan.

According to a daily update on the operation released by the control centre of the Sabah police contingent, of the total arrest, 3,198 were Filipinos, 714 Indonesians and 17, other nationalities.

Destroyed homes

A total of 751 houses belonging to the illegal immigrants had also been destroyed in the ongoing operation.

Bernama reported that three Indonesians arrested yesterday in Tenom, which until Wednesday remained as the only district yet to register any illegal immigrants being arrested.

A total of 12,646 suspected illegal immigrants have been screened in the state since the launching of "Ops Nyah II Bersepadu".
