Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mashitah Ibrahim, who was reappointed a senator for another term, took an oath of office before Dewan Negara president Abu Zahar Ujang today.

In welcoming Mashitah's reappointment, Abu Zahar hoped she would continue to show good performance and credibility in maintaining, raising the standards and democratising the senate.

He reminded members of the senate not to become emotional during proceedings as it could damage the senate's core values and influence.

Born in Alor Setar, Mashitah, 47, obtained a bachelor degree from Al-Azhar University, Egypt, a masters degree from International Islamic University Malaysia and a doctorate from Cairo University, Egypt.
