Kelantan Umno's red wave campaign has received an overwhelming response with about 400,000 young voters taking part in the programme.

State Umno liaison committee chairperson Mustapa Mohamed said an average of 1,000 youths participated in each programme since its launch in February.

"I think the red wave campaign is a wise move. In Pasir Puteh, more than 7,000 young people joined the programme.

"From reports that I had received, in some places more than 1,000 young people turned up for the programme," he told reporters after the launch of the campaign for the Pasir Puteh parliamentary constituency yesterday.

Mustapa, who is also minister of international trade and industry, said as young people responded positively to the programme, it spurred BN in its quest to recapture Kelantan in the next general election.

Spearheaded by Kelantan Umno Youth, the campaign with the theme "1Kelantan transformation signifies waves of the people" comprised lectures, courses and seminars.
