A Perak Keadilan official lodged a police report yesterday against a senior police officer in Ipoh following a scuffle on Thursday in which the police confiscated a ISA banner outside the party's office.

Jasmine Ng, Perak Keadilan executive secretary said she was intimidated and also injured her arm when she argued with the Pasir Putih chief inspector chief Loh Tuck Kim who led a10-men team to the Keadilan premises.

According to Ng, the police came in a truck with several Ipoh municipal council officials at about 3.30 pm but did not inform party staff before hand of their intended action.

Upon being informed of the police action, Ng came down from her office and questioned Loh as to why he took down the banner without notifying party staff first.

Hand grabbed

"Loh then forcefully grabbed my hand and warned that if I continue to question him, he would have me arrested. Being a male police officer, he should never touch me," she said.

Ng said she continued to question the police for not following procedure and at this moment, she injured her hand.

The police then seized the banner and left.

The banner with pictures of the six recent released ISA detainees and slogans was put up at the four-storey building on June 1.

Ng later went to Ipoh Hospital for a medical check up. A copy of the report was also attached in the police report lodged at the Pasir Panjang police station.

Council's job

Contacted for comment, Perak Keadilan deputy chief Dr Lee Boon Chye questioned the police's high-handed action against a woman.

Lee, who is also Keadilan supreme council member said if the banner is 'illegal', it is the municipal council's job to take it down, not the police.

"When my members asked who authorised the action, the police and council officials could not answer. This is a blatant attempt to intimidate and harass us," he said.

"If they talk to us in the first place, we can resolve it in a peaceful way," Lee said adding that then, Ng would not have been injured.
