Gua Musang member of parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said today that he might go to Sarawak to campaign for Barisan Nasional in the state election.
The former finance minister has been following closely political developments in Sarawak and getting feedback from friends who are in Kuching for the nomination on April 6.
Razaleigh, who is Gua Musang Umno chief, agreed with the general view that BN would win in the election, but must work hard to retain its two-thirds majority.
"BN continues to enjoy strong support in the rural areas because the people there still need a lot of assistance from the government," he told reporters after opening the Lebir Umno branch meeting.
However, people in the urban areas seemed to be influenced by opposition politics, he said.
"I may go to Sarawak to support the Barisan machinery and see for myself the standing of BN," Razaleigh added.
