Lim Kit Siang has called on Pakatan Rakyat leaders not to be distracted by the sex video caper and to instead focus fully on the coming Sarawak election.

NONE “The Pakatan Rakyat leadership must not allow the worst case of gutter politics in Malaysia – the Carcosa sex tape caper targeting Anwar Ibrahim - to distract focus from the Sarawak election or those behind the latest political conspiracy would have achieved one of their objectives,” warned the DAP stalwart in a statement today.

“With nominations for the Sarawak elections in ten days’ time, it is urgent and imperative to restore public confidence in the Pakatan Rakyat, which had recently come under a bout of adverse publicity particularly in the past fortnight,” said Lim ( above ).

To regain public confidence, said Lim, the seat allocation issue for Sarawak had to be resolved “without any more delay”.

He criticised the delays in the process that should not have been “allowed to be so protracted and inconclusive”, reminding his colleagues that one-on-one contests with BN was the main objective and a top priority.

The Ipoh Timor MP called for a “greater sense of urgency” warning, “Every day counts!”

GAPs wants in on viewing

Meanwhile the anti-Pakatan pressure group Gagasan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps) has lost no opportunity in scoring points with the ongoing scandal.

Hamidzun suggested that perhaps the man in the video is Male Y of the “highly popular sodomy court case”.

He added that the people of Selangor had a “constitutional right” right to view the sex video since their economic adviser was implicated.

“Selangor is a democratic state that upholds principles of freedom enshrined in the federal constitution.

“We want permission (to view the video),” stressed Hamidzun.

“If in our view, the man in the video is Male Y, it will be a great shame to Selangor.”

The Gaps chairperson cast his net wide to various so-called scandals in the state from the Elizabeth Wong case to Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim’s alleged “financial scandals” and “abuse of power” as proof that Khalid and Anwar should step down.

Utusan headline ‘slanderous’

PKR has meanwhile lambasted Umno-linked daily Utusan Malaysia for its headlines today ‘Where was Anwar Ibrahim?’ as malicious and defamatory, and against the ethics of good journalism.

Rafizi slammed the paper for its gutter journalism in stooping to air accusations made by an junior Umno Youth blogger on the PKR de facto leader’s whereabouts.

The blogger had alleged that Anwar had not made any tweets during the time that the sex act caught on video had supposedly taken place.

Rafizi called the claims “baseless”, supplying a Facebook record of Anwar’s tweets from 10.40pm to 11.08pm on the night of the taped sex act, that in the video was recorded between 10.20pm to 10.41pm.

“Reports till now by those who have seen the recording has not mentioned anything about the perpetrator having sex while tweeting on his handphone,” he said.

He also debunked Umno bloggers’ accusations, carried in the Utusan report, that Anwar’s tweets on Facebook would have been made an hour before the display time, by showing screenshots that showed only a 2 minute time lag.

“These are already enough to prove to the rakyat how malicious Utusan Malaysia is, that is not shy to publish slander without any attempt to verify the facts, as long as it airs the propaganda of its master that is Umno,” he said.

He demanded an apology from both Utusan and the Umno blogger and threatened further action otherwise.
