The Selangor AMK, the acronym for PKR Youth, has condemned the police for disrupting a ceramah held by party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim late last night.

Charging that the police had acted illegally, they claimed that the force had moved in to break up a function held on private grounds.

NONE "This had caused injury to several people present, including journalists and AMK leaders," said state information chief Mohd Saifullah Mohd Zulkifli in a statement.

The police gate crashed the ceramah -cum launch of the party's DNA (Datuk Najib Altantuya) campaign in Kuala Lumpur last night while Anwar was giving a speech.

It was reported that the police officers had ordered Anwar to stop speaking, sparking a clash between some of the 1,500 attendees and the Federal Reserve Unit.

It is learnt that three people were arrested.

"The police clearly showed that they were behaving unprofessionally when they stormed into private property and tried to drag Anwar away while he was closing his speech.

"This proves that Umno and the BN led by Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor are afraid of the uprising by the people and that the truth will bury the lies spread by the sodomy trial and sex video," said Mohd Saifullah, referring to the video footage that recently surfaced purportedly showing a man resembling Anwar having sex with a prostitute.

"AMK Selangor calls on the police not to fear the pressure and instructions from Umno and the BN. The police should be professional and serve the rakyat, and not the BN," he added.

Three still under detention

NONE Meanwhile, AMK chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said that the three arrested have yet to be released.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, he said that Maslan Abdul Raus was held for using abusive language and Helmi Rizal is being investigated for obstructing police.

However, Shamsul ( right ) is still unclear about the fate of the third unknown person, though he said that he has been "probably released".

They are being held at the Ampang district police headquarters.
