The Datuk 'T' trio who exposed video recording of sex acts involving a man similar to an opposition leader will not be protected under the Whistleblower Act.

NONE Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Aziz told Parliament they might be protected under the Witness Protection Act if there was a case to answer.

"The act (Whistleblower Act) becomes irrelevant when a person discloses information to the public. Anyone who goes to the press can't be protected. What I said as 'possibility' no longer applies," he said winding up debate on the Prime Minister's Department's Supplementary Supply Bill (2010) 2011 today.

Yesterday, Nazri said the Datuk 'T' trio of Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Shuib Lazim would be protected under the two acts if there was a case.

He said the government did not interfere in the investigation as alleged by the opposition.

On calls for formation of a Royal Commission of Inquiry, the minister said it would only be decided after the investigation was completed.

"The government is not afraid to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry as we also want to know as it is alleged that we are involved," he said in reply to a question by Wee Choo Keong (Independent-Wangsa Maju).
