The number of flood victims still in evacuation centres in the state declined to 817 this morning from over a thousand last night.

A Terengganu National Security Council spokesperson said 12 centres were still open in the affected areas, housing 552 people in Dungun, 58 in Kemaman and 207 in Marang.

State Education Department director Razali Daud, meanwhile, told Bernama that the 10 schools that were closed yesterday might be opened today as the floods began to subside.

In Kangar, the number of flood victims in Perlis rose to 416 from 306 last night.

Thirteen flood evacuations centres are currently in operation in Perlis, namely in Bintong, Sena and Santan.

Data obtained from the Drainage and Irrigation Department showed that the water level at Sungai Korok in northern part of Perlis surpassed the danger level at 29.80 metres at 9.15am today.

The danger level is 29.60 metres.
