Indonesia's PT Riau Airline will mount flights to a southern Malaysian state from next week in a boost to tourism, the country's airport operator said today.

PT Riau, a Riau provincial government-owned commercial carrier, will launch four flights weekly from Pekan Baru to Malacca from Monday using the Fokker 50 aircraft, Malaysia Airports Holdings said in a statement.

"This is indeed a boost to the tourism industry, particularly for Malacca," the statement said.

Malaysia Airport, which handles 38 airports in the country, pledged to continue aggresive marketing efforts to attract more new airlines to fly to Malaysia. - AFP
