Leaflets claiming that opposition party Sarawak National Party (Snap) will join BN after polling in the Sarawak state election are being distributed in the interiors of Limbang.  

Limbang member of parliament Hasbi Habibollah said the contents of the leaflets claiming Snap had "secret discussions" with the BN and after April 16 (polling day) the party will join BN, were not true.  

"It all lies to garner votes in rural areas," he told reporters after attending a community function at the Kampung Tanjong's multipurpose hall in Limbang today.  

In his speech, Hasbi said he himself received six similar leaflets today but was unable to pinpoint the individuals or parties responsible.

"It not that easy for the BN to accept any political party into its fold and to make such claims during election time is quite normal," he said.

On the BN's chances in the two state constituencies in Limbang, urban seat Bukit Kota and rural seat Batu Danau, Hasbi said Limbang would remain a BN stronghold.  

Although the BN's list of candidates has not been released yet, the incumbents for Bukit Kota and Batu Danau are likely to be retained.  

In the 2006 state election, Batu Danau, a new constituency, which is a Dayak majority seat, was won by BN candidate Paulus Gumbang in a straight fight with Sawan Jiram of SNAP with a majority of 1,262 votes.

For Bukit Kota, formerly known as Limbang, in the last state election, Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail was involved in a three-cornered fight against two independent candidates and won with a majority of 3,299 votes.
