A trader was acquitted and discharged today of posting offensive remarks over the Internet against the Sultan of Perak.

Sessions Court Judge SM Komathy Suppiah set the trader, Muslim Ahmad, 55, free after ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

On June 21 last year, Komathy freed Muslim of the charge but High Court Judge Ghazali Cha ordered him to enter his defence following an appeal by the prosecution.

Muslim faced three charges of posting offensive comments on the www.perak.gov.my portal at 2.21pm and 2.27pm on Feb 7 last year and at 4.39pm the next day.
