Man jailed for chaining up daughter: report
A man was sentenced to three years in jail for chaining up his 15-year-old daughter for two weeks, a report said today.
Martial art instructor Che Mustapha Che Jusoh ( photo ), from Kelantan, was also fined RM10,000, the New Straits Times said.
"The incident could result in the victim suffering emotionally. As a father, Che Mustapha should have showered love on his daughter instead of treating her like livestock," magistrate Mohamad Sabri Ismail was quoted as saying.
Educating daughter
Prosecutors said the principal of the school that the girl attended suspected something was amiss in October after she was absent for several days.
Policemen later found the girl tied up with a steel chain in the living room of the house.
A police investigation showed she had been chained up for two weeks to prevent her from leaving the house.
Che Mustapha, 46, who has a previous conviction for possessing stolen items, said his intention was to educate his daughter. - AFP
